FOR NEW CUBS FANS, & casual fans, this is Anthony Rizzo. THIS is the Cubs leader AND best player. Not Baez, Bryant, Arietta. Schwarber, Hendricks, Lester, etc. When he hits, the Cubs win easily. When he doesn't, the Cubs struggle to win. In the Dodgers series, the Cubs went 1 win and 2 losses when he didn't hit, and 3 and 0 when he did. Last year the Cubs went 3 and 1 when Rizzo hit and 0 and 4 when he didn't in the playoffs. Despite Bryant's fabulous MVP year this year, Baez emergence, which all Cubs fans saw coming, and Jake's Dominance last year, Rizzo has led the team in the HRs and RBI's every year. Bryant finally lead in HRs this year. Bryant bats in front of Rizzo (never behind) when means he benefits from the pitchers fear of facing Rizzo with runners on base. That makes a big difference. So Bryant sees the best pitches in the line up to hit and he delivers. That how baseball works. Rizzo also catches all the wild throws from Baez & Bryant. Otherwise a lot of those spectacular plays you see from them would be game changing errors. His defense is stellar too. It's ok to have favorites, Like I said in my last post, Schwarber is mine. But make no mistake, DAT DUDE is Rizzo. Shut him down? Beat the Cubs. He gets off? Cubs Win!! Period.
