Now down to business. The issue is that this year for the Cubs the pitching is not as strong as it was last year and Joe Maddon will have to manage this team like he has never managed if the Cubs are going to get past Washington Nationals (NLDS favorites) who can match the Cubs bat for bat and definitely has the edge in pitching. We do not have an ace or a pitcher with ace like stats this year and will have to hope that Lester, Hendricks and Arietta can recapture that magic from the past few years for one more deep post season run. In fact out of all the teams in the playoffs only the Rockies and Astros have a worse pitching staff and the Rockies could be going home tonight after the Wild Card game. That means the 6 of 7 remaining teams including, you guest it, the number one team Cleveland Indians whom probably should have won last year had fate not intervened, all have better pitching staffs with that shut down ace that the Cubs have lacked all year. Lester has already earned that big contract, and deservedly so, but now it is time for him to earn that bonus.
Time to kick the tires and light the fires. #GoCubsGo
I am no journalist or paid baseball expert (believe me had I known that these guys would make millions just talking about sports and giving their opinions, I would’ve gladly traded in my Engineering degree for a Journalism degree). I am merely giving my opinion, like they do, through my knowledge and vision of what was my favorite game growing up in the city of Chicago. Please feel free not to correct me on any misspellings or typos because like I said in my first blog, I am no Journalist lol. #GoCubsGo
